Abstract

Number theory is the branch of pure mathematics which studies positive whole numbers also called natural numbers and integers. The goal of number theory is to discover relationships between numbers that may not be apparent at face value. Cryptography is the study of encryption and decryption of information. By encrypting information the data can be transmitted to the intended recipient securely across the internet (insecure network). The use of numbers in cryptography is inextricably linked.
