Abstract

We consider a mathematical model of different amino acid types. This model uses probability in order to find the predicted length of time that each amino acid type and strand have differed from each other. We analyze the model by setting the proportion for an amino acid to mutate to another. This constant is then used inside of the model and outputs an average that we can use to predict the length of time since two organisms had a common ancestor.
